A car bomb near a mosque in the central Iraqi city of Baquba killed at least 18 people and wounded 21 others on Wednesday, security officials said. The explosion near the Husseiniyah mosque in the district of Abu Sayeeda in east Baquba, north of Baghdad, occurred at around 6:00 pm (1500 GMT), an official from Baquba Operations Command said. Iraqi officials have warned of the dangers of an upsurge in violence if negotiations on forming a new governing coalition continue to drag on, giving insurgent groups an opportunity to further destabilize the country. More than four months after a March 7 general election, which gave no single bloc an overall parliamentary majority, the two lists which won most seats are still bickering over who should be the next prime minister. ¬
